Maleny State High School is located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. With a student population of 750 Year 7 - 12 students, Maleny State High School has a small school feel, with big school outcomes.
At Maleny State High School we aim to develop learning potential and resilience in students in three main ways:
Our strong belief in effective teaching and learning via the Art and Science of Teaching (ASOT) pedagogical framework, a supportive environment, and positive relationships is promoted within the philosophy that each person needs to take serious responsibility for their own behaviour. When a student needs time to work through their behaviour choices, a space is available to reflect upon, and organise, their re-entry to the class - the Responsible Thinking Classroom.
Another unique feature of this school is the off-campus site known as the "Flexi Campus" (Flexible Learning Experience). Between 10 and 20 students enter into highly-individualised, negotiated, learning pathway. The Flexi Campus is a valuable opportunity resource for students who are at risk of terminating their education far too early.
