Nationally-recognised VET Qualification Courses

Senior students at Maleny State High can choose from a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) learning pathways as part of their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), providing them with nationally-recognised qualifications that deliver the skills and knowledge required for specific industries and occupations. VET qualifications are delivered by Maleny as a registered training organisation (RTO #30395) and/or in partnership with external RTOs.

VET Certificates

  • Awarded Vocational Education and Training (VET) Certificate II qualifications contribute four credits towards a QCE.
  • Awarded Certificate III and IV qualifications generally contribute eight credits, although some contribute less.

Partly completed VET qualifications (Certificate II and above) may contribute credits towards the QCE. Credits assigned to VET Certificates III and IV can be checked through the Student Connect website: https://studentconnect.qcaa.qld.edu.au/

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

All students studying VET courses are required to apply for a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

The USI system is a register of qualifications obtained by each student and is a useful tool for keeping track of qualifications earned over their lifetime. RTOs cannot issue a qualification unless a USI has been supplied. As such, students will be required to set up a USI before applying for a VET course.
